Brava Energia has successfully completed its first two casing drilling projects in the Alto do Rodrigues Field, located in Brazil’s Potiguar Basin. With support from Tenaris, two vertical wells were drilled to about 380 meters without incidents, reducing total operation time and costs compared to conventional drilling. The project also marked the first casing drilling operation for production casing in Brazil.
Casing drilling significantly reduces costs and saves time by combining drilling and casing installation in a single run. Tenaris has developed a package of products and services to enhance the reliability of these operations for its Rig Direct® customers.
Representatives from Brava Energia’s Drilling Engineering and Tenaris’s Technical Sales teams provided comprehensive support throughout the project, from the planning phase onward. They conducted in-depth torque, drag, and fatigue simulations to rigorously assess the feasibility of the operation. The drilling strings incorporated TXP® BTC connections, a well-established choice for casing drilling in Argentina. Additionally, pipe lengths were precisely tailored to align with the rig’s specific operational requirements.
Following the positive outcome of these first two wells, Brava Energia will adopt this drilling technique for upcoming campaigns in the Estreito and Alto do Rodrigues fields.
