Aperam Launches New Straightening & Cutting Line to Meet Rising Demand in LNG Market

Aperam S.A. (Aperam), a global player in stainless, electrical, alloys, specialty steel and recycling, is proud to announce the launch of its new straightening and cutting line at its Aperam Alloys Imphy site in France.

The new facility is specifically designed to serve the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) tanker market, as the recent global shift in LNG usage, coupled with extended demand from shipbuilders in Korea and China, has created a pressing need for increased production capacity. Aperam’s established reputation for delivering high-quality, on-time solutions made it the natural choice to scale up its supply to the LNG sector, and substantially enhance company’s production capacity for INVAR® M93, which is which is the essential alloy used in GTT’s NO96 technology for LNG containment systems.

Mirroring the company’s existing line but incorporating advanced technological upgrades, the new line will double Aperam’s global capacity in this critical segment. Designed for maximum efficiency and precision, it produces strakes up to 50 meters long, 536 mm wide, and less than 1 mm thick, delivered in approximately 150 kg coils. Additionally, Aperam remains dedicated to sustainability by integrating the latest generation of energy-efficient motors into the new production line to reduce overall energy consumption.
