Worldsteel reports production for Feb. 2015

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has reported on the crude steel production for the February 2015 from the 65 countries that report to the association. The total was 128 million tons, which is a 0.6 percent increase compared to February 2014.

In terms of the numbers for the Americas, the United States produced 6.3 Mt of crude steel, which is a decrease of -7.9 percent compared to February of last year. Brazil’s crude steel production for February 2015 was 2.7 Mt, which was up by 2.3 percent from February 2014.

The crude steel capacity utilisation ratio for worldsteel’s 65 countries in February 2015 was 73.4 percent. This is -1.7 percentage points lower than February 2014, but compared to January 2015, it is 3.8 percentage points higher.
