The ninth biennial Stainless Steel World Americas Conference and Exhibition was held on November 9th and 10th at the George R. Brown Convention Centre in downtown Houston, Texas. Running alongside the very first Managing Aging Plants USA conference, with a shared exhibition, there were a total of 800 registered attendees for the joint events including 145 conference delegates for Stainless Steel World Americas.

The successful two-day event was attended by visitors from all over the world including Australia, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Japan. These international delegates were a great mix of end-users, EPCS, manufacturers and distributors including representatives from such influential companies as Air Liquide, BASF Corporation, Fluor, The Dow Chemical Company, GE Power and Water, Honeywell International, Lyondellbasell and Technip.

Having moved locations from the Hilton Post Oak Hotel in 2014 to the impressive George R. Brown Convention Centre, the event was better attended by visitors who enjoyed walking the exhibition floor and speaking with knowledgeable exhibitors such as Bahco, Ensitech, EPI Engineering and Stress Engineering. Visitors and exhibitors alike were able to network and obtain quality leads.

The conference, which ran concurrently with the exhibition, began each day with plenary lectures given by representatives from Air Liquide, Fluor, Global Stainless Steel and Sage ATC Environmental Consulting. Conference sessions were filled with interested delegates who challenged the speakers with educated and thoughtful questions and many in-depth discussions followed. It was thrilling to see industry professionals sharing ideas and collaborating on important industry topics such as corrosion, duplex and material selection.

The Stainless Steel World Americas team would like to thank the steering committee and conference chairman Fred Schweighardt, International Expert with Air Liquide, for all their hard work in creating a solid conference program. A big thanks also goes to the conference sponsor Schmidt + Clemens.
