Carcará well confirms huge potential in Santos Bas

Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras has announced that drilling has been completed in well 4-SPS-86B (4-BRSA-971-SPS), located in block BM-S-8, in ultra-deep waters, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. This is the third well that has been drilled in the Discovery Assessment Plan area.
Informally known as Carcará, the well is about 144 miles off the coast and was drilled in 6,650 feet of water. A significant column was found containing at least 1545 feet of excellent quality oil with 1318 feet in carbonate reservoirs with excellent porosity and permeability. Pressure data indicate that these reservoirs are interconnected.
Carcará is expected to start producing oil in 2018, with development wells being drilled throughout 2016-2017.
